Celebrating 25 Years of Team Wendy Head Protection

Team Wendy is about more than helmets – it’s a legacy. Cleveland entrepreneur Dan T. Moore founded Team Wendy in 1997 as a memorial to his daughter, who died tragically from a traumatic brain injury following a snow skiing accident.
In Wendy Moore’s memory, Team Wendy is steadfast in its dedication to the pursuit of improving head protection for those who risk their lives every day. It does this through cutting-edge research, thoughtful design and reliable customer service. Wendy's name lives on today in the protective products and gear used by hundreds of thousands worldwide, including servicemembers of the United States Military.
History of helmet systems
The first Team Wendy helmet, launched in 1998, was a ski helmet with a proprietary Zorbium® foam liner. In 2005, the Zorbium® Action Pad (ZAP™) 7-Pad NSN Liner System became the approved liner system for all standard issue U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Navy ground combat helmets. This contract is still maintained through a partnership with National Industries for the Blind, and more than 7 million Team Wendy combat helmet liner systems have been supplied to U.S. servicemembers.
Today, Team Wendy offers eight complete helmet systems, a variety of compatible helmet accessories, aftermarket liner systems and aftermarket retention systems that allow combat, rescue and adventure operators to focus on their mission, not their helmet. Team Wendy products protect elite teams and organizations in more than 55 allied nations worldwide, including the U.S. Army 10th Special Forces Group, Australian Defence Force, Brazilian Federal Police and every U.S. federal FEMA team.
A global leader in head protection
Over the past two years, the acquisitions of 3M’s ballistic protection business and Team Wendy have added head protection to our portfolio, combining world-leading technology in helmet shells and protective inserts. The combination of the two has positioned Avon Protection as a global leader in head protection systems for the military and first responders. Together, we continue to drive innovation and honour Wendy’s legacy by producing the most protective helmets on the market and ensuring the helmet platform maintains its peak comfort while used with other systems, such as our world-leading respiratory and CBRN protection portfolio
